Claire has been a key player in the Social Enterprise movement and promotion of Women’s Education since the 1980's and has led the Blackburne House Group since its inception.
She has used her entrepreneurial skills to help the organisation grow into an award winning and extremely successful social enterprise. The group has been highly successful over a thirty year period with many acknowledgements and just recently was given the Freedom of the City of Liverpool for its pioneering work. Claire has been a leading figure making contributions locally, nationally and internationally promoting education, entrepreneurship and social enterprise and the benefits they can make to growing economies. She is currently Chair of Social Enterprise UK, the national umbrella group for the movement, Chair of British Council Society Advisory Group, Chair of Liverpool Fairness Commission and a Member of Liverpool Mayoral Development Board. She is also a Member on the Board of Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Claire has been awarded an OBE, the Queens Industry Lifetime Achievement Award for Enterprise Promotion. She is a recipient of an Honorary Fellowship from John Moores University and was voted nationally as an exemplary leader in regeneration. She also is Deputy Lieutenant for Merseyside.
